Erica Land Clanahan, MSN, WHNP-BC
Erica, who hails from Butler, AL, is a Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner providing complete primary care for women. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of South Alabama in Mobile; and then her Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner credentials. She has extensive experience, working as an RN-Orthopedic/Oncology at Rush Hospital, St. Mary’s Hospital (Reno, NV) and St. Vincent Hospital (Birmingham, AL) and as a RN-Postpartum at Riley Hospital and RN-Emergency Room/Labor and Delivery, Anderson Regional Medical Center.
Billing & Front Office Manager
Karen has more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and billing field and brought that expertise to The Nelson Center in 2010. She is a graduate of Clarkdale High School and studied business and office technology at Meridian Community College. Married with two children, Karen enjoys shopping, vacationing and going to concerts with her family and friends.
Medical Office Coordinator/Scribe
Meridianite Nikki has worked with Dr. Carney-Nelson since 2004 and is an expert in many areas of the center. Over the years she has worked in several positions but now is the Medical Office Coordinator. Of Dr. Carney-Nelson, Nikki said, “She is a great boss and a friend." Happily married, she and her husband have a combined group of five children, ranging in age from 6 to 20. “I absolutely love my job. Patient care is my favorite part of the work we do here at the center as I enjoy being a part of that most precious time in a mother’s life.”
Receptionist & Billing Assistant
With more than 13 years of experience in medical billing, coding and insurance, Tiffany brings a lot of expertise to The Nelson Center. She and her husband, Bryan, have three children: Kayela, Christopher and Kaiden. As she said, “I am very blessed with a job that I love. The atmosphere at The Nelson Center is welcoming and fun. We all take pride in the center and work together as a team to make sure we satisfy our patients.” She really loves the team spirit. “We help each other when and where needed – I can honestly say I love my coworkers and everything about my job.”
Surgical Medical Assistant
"Quetta," also known as "Q," can always be found with a smile on her face. A veteran who served in the U.S. Army for more than three years, she is a graduate of the Meridian Community College surgery program as an Operating Technician and has more than 10 years of experience in this field. Quetta worked at Rush for many years and has been with The Nelson Clinic for more than two years. Caring and compassionate with each patient, Quetta is a wonderful mother to her young son Ashton, who is six.
Jenny started working with Dr. Carney-Nelson in 2012, and, as she said “I would never want to be anywhere else. She is so compassionate with her patients.” Jenny came to Meridian from Miami, and at first found the adjustment to the smaller town hard — “but this little town has grown on me and now I proudly call this place my home.” She and husband Ryland (who works at Key Field and is in the Air National Guard) have two children: Sophia, a very energetic girl and Brandon, her little brother. She said, “What I like most about Dr. Carney-Nelson is that she works hard to help treat a problem, rather than trying to mask it with prescription drugs.”
Billing & Insurance
Meridianite Cindy Killen is new to The Nelson Center, but has been working in the medical field for more than 30 years. She is a graduate of Meridian Community College with an Associate Degree in Health Information Technology and is a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT). Cindy loves to spend time with her five grandchildren.
LPN & Pre-Certification Nurse
Rayko graduated from nursing school at Meridian Community College in 2004 and jumped straight in to working for Dr. Carney-Nelson, making her a part of the family for 14 years. The mother of two children and a wife of 14 years, Rayko said of her work at the Nelson Center, “It has been a great adventure. We work for an amazing doctor and have an awesome staff.” In her spare time, Rayko likes to spend her spare time outdoors. In the summer she loves going to the beach and pool. In the colder months, she enjoys bonfires and four-wheeler riding.
Erica Mosley, RN, BSN
Enterprise native Erica received her RN from Meridian Community College and her BSN from the University for Women. She is currently working on her Nurse Practitioner license from Vanderbilt University. Married and mom to an active two-year-old, Erica said "I have no free time!" But when she does, she likes to vacation with her family.
Surgical OB Technician
Shelby has worked in labor and delivery for more than 10 years after graduating from Meridian Community College’s surgical technician program. A veteran who served in the U.S. Army in the engineering company for eight years, she served in Iraq from 2009-10. Shelby is an Alabama native who is happily married and the mother of three great kids. In her spare time, Shelby loves to travel.
Terri has more than 26 years of lab experience and has been with The Nelson Center for eight years. She is quite the singer, and enjoys bringing joy to others. The mother of two daughters and a son, she also has two cats.
With 10 years at The Nelson Center and more than 21 years of experience in her field, Dana is an expert at ultrasound. She has three children and six grandchildren — with No. 7 on the way. In her spare time, Dana enjoys being with all of those grandchildren and scuba diving.
Cristal Weir, LNP
A graduate of Meridian Community College, Cristal started working with Rush in 2003 and has been with Dr. Carney-Nelson since 2009. Married for more than 13 years, she is proud of her "three handsome boys" and enjoys spending time with her family.
